Video Lectures on Peak States of Consciousness
Dec 16, 2024

On this webpage are video presentations about our work with peak states of consciousness. Although we mention the experiential qualities of peak states (and how they are defined), these talks focus primary on developmental psychobiology - because it is during key prenatal developmental events that continuous peak states of consciousness are acquired. Some of these talks were given at the Institute's annual International Psychobiology & Psycho-immunology Research Symposium. (You can view over 80 symposium presentations on our YouTube channel. We also refer you to our textbooks for more in-depth material.)

  1. "What are peak states?" by Grant McFetridge PhD (2010)
  2. "Prenatal development, trauma and emotions", by Grant McFetridge PhD (2011)
  3. "Being human is a spectrum disorder: Beauty Way vs. normal consciousness", by Dr. Kirsten Lykkegaard (2023)
  4. "Founding The Institute for the Study of Peak States" by Grant McFetridge PhD (2010)
  5. "Peak states, psycho-immunology, and fast trauma clearing" with Dr. Grant McFetridge and Alex Bedowicz (2018)
  6. "Spiritual emergency", by Emma Bragdon PhD (2022)

1) "What are peak states?" by Grant McFetridge PhD (2011)

This short video describes the lived experience of 'peak states of consciousness'. Presented by Grant McFetridge PhD, it was filmed at the Trillium retreat center in Oregon in the summer of 2011. Dr. McFetridge (Canada) is the founder of the Institute for the Study of Peak States. He is the author of Subcellular Psychobiology Diagnosis Handbook, Silence the Voices, Peak States of Consciousness volumes 1 & 2, and The Basic Whole-Hearted Healing Manual.

2) "Prenatal development, trauma and emotions", by Grant McFetridge PhD (2011)

Dr. Grant McFetridge gives examples of how prenatal trauma affects sub-cellular structures which in turn affect emotions and behavior. It was filmed in the summer of 2011 at the Trillium retreat center in Oregon.

3) "Being human is a spectrum disorder: Beauty Way vs. normal consciousness", by Dr. Kirsten Lykkegaard (2023)

Dr Kirsten Lykkegaard explains how our emotional reactivity varies across a normal range of consciousness depending on the amount of trauma you have. However, being in a permanent state of consciousness known as Beauty Way, results in a quantum leap in mental health where you are emotional present, calm, with no emotional reactivity (no past traumas being activated). Presented at the 4th International Psycho-immunology and Psychobiology Research Symposium held in Crete in 2023. Kirsten Lykkegaard (Denmark) is a doctor of veterinary medicine and also holds a PhD in pharmacology. For over 19 years she has contributed to fundamental biomedical research within the somatic pain, obesity and type 2 diabetes areas. As director of research at the Institute for the Study of Peak States, Kirsten’s current focus is on developing effective psycho-immunology treatments for specific viral and bacterial diseases. She is also investigating the causes of diseases of unknown etiology, such as autism.

4) "Founding The Institute for the Study of Peak States", by Grant McFetridge PhD (2010)

The founder of the Institute, Dr Grant McFetridge (Canada) explains why he established the Institute for the Study of Peak States. He talks about his focus on exceptional states of consciousness, and working to solve the underlying biology of what causes them. This was filmed in the summer of 2011 at the Trillium retreat center in Oregon.

5) "Peak states, psycho-immunology, and fast trauma clearing" with Dr. Grant McFetridge PhD and Alex Bedowicz (2018)

Dr. Grant McFetridge is interviewed by Alex Bedowicz for PorozmawiajmyTV in Poland 2018. This unscripted, wide ranging Q&A discusses the subcellular psychobiology research done at the Institute for the Study of Peak States (www.PeakStates.com), and their surprising discoveries about the intracellular biology of consciousness, trauma, and disease. 6) "Spiritual emergency", by Emma Bragdon PhD

Dr. Bragdon will define “Spiritual Emergence” and “Spiritual Emergency” from several perspectives. She will reflect on how it is treated in conventional clinics and hospitals, and how that differs from ideal management, and then compare the outcomes. She will describe a protocol she teaches in her training of “Spiritual Emergence Coaches®” that is useful for therapists as well as those personally struggling with lived experience. An invited speaker, she presented at the 3rd International Psycho-immunology and Psychobiology Research Symposium in 2022. Emma Bragdon (USA) earned her doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology in 1987 from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She was licensed as a Marriage, Family, Child Therapist in 1988. She is the author of 7 books—2 of them on the subject of “Spiritual Emergency” published in 1988 and 1990 making her an esteemed pioneer in the field. She is the Founder/Executive Director of Integrative Mental Health University that offers more than 40 courses online and live. Website: For Integrative Mental Health University: https://IMHU.org.
