Ongoing classes.
This will be an ongoing teleclass, and is mainly Q&A,
to help students who are preparing for certification. Staff
members will answer questions about problems students came
across while doing their 'dirt time', with clarification of
the workshop material as requested. The initial topic will
be on effective diagnosis. There may be a lecture from time
to time, if we sense from the questions that there is a
topic that needs a more thorough address. In such a case,
we will publish the lecture's topic ahead of time on the
WHH list, for people who would like to listen to it.

People doing meditation or deep therapeutic
processes might all of a sudden find themselves in a
Spiritual Emergency. This excessive energetical opening can
look like a psychosis or other mental illnesses. It is
therefore a part of becoming a Peak States therapist to
know about Spiritual Emergencies. This workshop is meant to
be a help to have the issue become more alive and
understandable by inviting several people to teach.Dr.
Grant McFetridge being a specialist on the subject will be
with us several hours on Skype. Advanced therapist Nemi
Nath will tell about her own experience with Spiritual
Emergency. Psychiatrist Berit Barnett will tell about the
difference between Spiritual Emergency and mental illness.
It is very much advised to read the books Spiritual
Emergency by Stanislav Groff and Helping people with
Spiritual Emergency by Emma Bragdon before the workshop.

This workshop is not a substitute for the test put up by
ISPS to become a certified therapist.
Else Baden-Jensen will make a brief review of data from the
literature of the subject and Berit Barnett will describe
the diagnostic considerations in between spiritual
emergency and psychosis both theoretical and with examples
so we can practise ourselves. Else and Berit will together
examine how you best help people in those situations.
Later, Anders Radmark will tell about his wife's violent
Spiritual Emergency / psychosis experience that stretched
over many months and how it affected a family. At 18.00
Grant McFetridge will tell us what he knows about spiritual
emergency and answer questions about everything within the
subject.
Sunday, ISPS teacher Nemi Nath from Australia will tell
about her own spiritual emergency and her many years of
experience within the subject. After lunch we will do group
work around the issues we have had touched during the
workshop.
We will end the workshop at 15.00.

States: Awareness - the Journey of the Healer

‘Awareness is the doorway to the world of
spirit’ Stalking Wolf
This course is designed primarily for graduates of ISPS
training to teach them the shamanic power and techniques of
native healers. As Wes points out in his chapter in Peak
States of Consciousness Volume 2, giving people tools to
rapidly transform themselves without the years of self
mastery and practice required of more traditional methods
is potentially a problem. It is also a limiting factor for
those wanting to go onto advanced ISPS training as the
ability to navigate alternate dimensions and ways of seeing
might not have been developed.
A variety of Native American techniques will be used in the
training to support the development of the healer. In
particular an expanded sense of physical awareness will be
used to transition from physical to spiritual awareness. In
so doing, participants will create their own ‘good
medicine’ place.
Wes has studied and practised natural skills and beliefs
for over forty years, with pauses as required by the
necessities of love and life. He has been taught by Tom
Brown Jr. and Native teachers the skills of survival and
living, awareness, and philosophy, the ceremonies of daily
life, and the ceremonies and responsibilities of the sweat
lodge. He honors them by using these ways and keeping them
for the generations yet to be born, and has taught them in
workshops and at gatherings since 1993. He also worked
extensively in the early days with Grant developing ISPS
techniques.
